Wer­ner

Born in 1969 and ra­ised in Es­sen, Ger­ma­ny, Ti­lo Wer­ner stu­di­ed ac­ting at the Ernst Busch Aca­demy of Dra­matic Arts in Ber­lin. Af­ter his third year of stu­di­es, he was en­ga­ged by the Ma­xim Gor­ki The­ater in Ber­lin. Fol­lo­wing Tho­mas Os­terme­ier and Jens Hill­je's ap­po­int­ment to the re­now­ned Ba­rac­ke sta­ge, he jo­ined the De­uts­ches The­ater and sub­se­qu­ent­ly the Scha­ubühne am Leh­ni­ner Platz.

Ins­pi­red by an en­co­un­ter with the Hun­ga­ri­an di­rec­tor Árpád Schil­ling, Wer­ner mo­ved to Bu­dapest, le­ar­ned Hun­ga­ri­an, and jo­ined the Krétakör The­at­re. He la­ter be­came an en­semb­le mem­ber at Vi­en­na's Burg­the­ater whi­le re­ma­ining clo­sely con­nected to his adop­ted ho­me of Bu­dapest, ap­pe­aring in nu­mero­us Hun­ga­ri­an short and fe­atu­re films.

Sin­ce the 2009/10 se­ason, Ti­lo Wer­ner has be­en a per­ma­nent en­semb­le mem­ber of the Tha­lia The­ater in Ham­burg. Thro­ug­ho­ut his ca­re­er, he has col­la­bora­ted with acc­la­imed di­rec­tors inc­lu­ding Luc Per­ce­val, Di­miter Gots­cheff, Kornél Mund­ruczó, and Ki­rill Se­reb­renni­kov. He al­so works re­gular­ly as a vo­ice ac­tor for ra­dio dra­mas and do­cumen­ta­ry fe­atu­res.
