Yang Ge is a Chinese actress, director, singer, and filmmaker. She graduated from the directing department of VGIK (Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography) in Moscow, where she studied under acclaimed filmmaker Sergei Solovyov.
For over twelve years, Yang Ge has been a close artistic collaborator of director Kirill Serebrennikov. She first performed at Gogol Center and has since appeared in productions presented by major European theatres and festivals, including Deutsches Theater Berlin, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Salzburger Festspiele, Wiener Festwochen and Festival d'Avignon.
Alongside her theatre work, Yang Ge has built an international career in film as both an actress and director. Her debut feature, NU received the Jury Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival. Her artistic work explores questions of identity, migration, cultural belonging, and the relationship between personal and collective memory.
Working across theatre, cinema, music, and performance, Yang Ge develops multidisciplinary projects that move between different languages, cultures, and artistic traditions.
Through her artistic work and digital storytelling, Yang Ge has built an international audience of more than five million people across social media platforms.
