Frol Pod­lesnyi is a vi­deo ar­tist, the­at­re pho­tog­rapher, and per­former. Af­ter stu­dy­ing Jo­ur­na­lism at No­vosi­birsk Uni­ver­si­ty, he spent mo­re than ten years wor­king as a pho­tog­rapher and vi­de­og­rapher ac­ross Rus­sia. 

Sin­ce 2012, his ar­tistic ca­re­er has be­en clo­sely con­nected with the­at­re. As a staff pho­tog­rapher and vi­de­og­rapher, he wor­ked with ma­jor the­at­res inc­lu­ding Kras­no­yarsk Youth The­at­re, Red Torch The­at­re, Ty­umen Dra­ma The­at­re, Old Ho­use The­at­re, and First The­at­re. He al­so cre­ated vi­su­al con­tent for nu­mero­us in­terna­ti­onal the­at­re fes­ti­vals and la­bora­tori­es, inc­lu­ding No­vosi­birsk Tran­sit, KHO­OS, The­at­re of Na­ti­ons Fest, the Dmit­ri Hvo­ros­tovs­ky Fes­ti­val, Lan­gu­age of the World, KRY­AKK, and Ter­ri­tory. He ad­di­ti­onal­ly cont­ri­buted to pro­jects such as the 2019 Win­ter Uni­ver­si­ade. 

Sin­ce 2023, Frol has be­en li­ving and wor­king in Ber­lin. He col­la­bora­tes clo­sely with in­terna­ti­onal com­pa­ni­es inc­lu­ding The Flow and Ki­rill & Fri­ends and re­gular­ly works with di­rec­tors such as Ki­rill Se­reb­renni­kov, Ti­mofei Ku­ly­abin, Ma­xim Di­den­ko, Ro­man Fe­odo­ri, Ni­kita Be­tekh­tin, and Ale­xan­der And­ri­yash­kin. He al­so works with ins­ti­tuti­ons inc­lu­ding Théâtre du Châte­let (Pa­ris), Zu­rich Ope­ra Ho­use, Dutch Na­ti­onal Ope­ra (Ams­ter­dam), Vi­en­na Sta­te Ope­ra, Ko­misc­he Oper Ber­lin, the Salz­burg Eas­ter Fes­ti­val, the Salz­burg Fes­ti­val, the Mu­nich Bi­en­na­le, De­uts­ches The­ater Ber­lin, Tha­lia The­ater Ham­burg, and ot­her Euro­pe­an cul­tu­ral ins­ti­tuti­ons.

His re­cent pro­jects inc­lu­de the in­terna­ti­onal pro­duc­ti­on Ham­let/Fantômes at the Théâtre du Châte­let in Pa­ris, Ri­chard Wag­ner’s Das Rhe­in­gold for the Salz­burg Eas­ter Fes­ti­val, the Mu­nich Bi­en­na­le and the Vo­ices Fes­ti­val. He al­so con­ti­nu­es to do­cument the in­terna­ti­onal to­uring pro­duc­ti­ons In the So­litu­de of Cot­ton Fi­elds and Cre­mula­tor, which are pre­sen­ted worl­dwi­de.
