Jo­ac­him Lux (b. 1957) ser­ved as dra­matur­ge and chi­ef dra­matur­ge at the­at­res in Co­log­ne, Düssel­dorf, and Bre­men from 1985 to 1999.

From 1999 to 2009, he was Chi­ef Dra­matur­ge at Vi­en­na's Burg­the­ater. He sub­se­qu­ent­ly ser­ved as Ar­tistic Di­rec­tor (In­tendant) of Ham­burg's Tha­lia The­ater from 2009 to 2025, le­ading one of Ger­ma­ny's fo­remost the­at­res.

Du­ring his te­nure, he sig­ni­ficant­ly ex­panded the the­at­re's in­terna­ti­onal pro­file, col­la­bora­ting with le­ading di­rec­tors and the­at­re com­pa­ni­es from aro­und the world. In 2017, he cu­rated the in­terna­ti­onal fes­ti­val The­ater der Welt (The­at­re of the World).

In 2025 and 2026, he ser­ves as Ar­tistic Di­rec­tor of the Har­bo­ur Front Li­tera­ture Fes­ti­val.
