Ekaterina (Katja) Kostiukova graduated from the Literary Translation Department of the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute in Moscow.
In 2012, she joined the newly founded Gogol Center under the artistic direction of Kirill Serebrennikov and remained with the theatre until it ceased to exist in 2022. During those years, she worked as Director's Assistant on productions by Kirill Serebrennikov as well as numerous Russian and European directors at different stages of their careers.
Since 2020, she has been working as Director's Assistant on Kirill Serebrennikov's international productions in collaboration with leading European theatres and cultural institutions. Among these productions are Decamerone (Deutsches Theater Berlin, 2020), Der Schwarze Mönch / The Black Monk (Thalia Theater, Hamburg and Festival d'Avignon, 2022), Barocco (Thalia Theater Hamburg, 2023), Legende (Ruhrtriennale and Thalia Theater Hamburg, 2024), Der Schneesturm (Salzburger Festspiele and Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, 2025), and Hamlet/Fantômes (Théâtre du Châtelet, 2025).
