Knopp
Felix Knopp was born in Gelsenkirchen in 1975. As early as 1999, two years before graduating from the Westfälische Schauspielschule Bochum, he appeared in a production of 'Measure for Measure' at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, directed by the then artistic director Leander Haußmann. It was here that he also worked with Dimiter Gottschef, whom he followed to the Schauspielhaus Graz.
In 2003, he was voted ‘Young Actor of the Year’ in the critics’ poll conducted by the magazine ‘Theater heute’. The production ‘Draußen vor der Tür’, directed by Luk Perceval and starring Felix Knopp as the war veteran Beckmann, won the ‘Golden Mask’ in 2013 in the category ‘The Best Foreign Production Presented in Russia’. Further guest engagements have taken him to the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and after many years back to the Schauspielhaus Bochum for the production 'Catarina or the beauty of killing fascists', director: Mateja Koležnik.
From 2001 to 2011 and from 2020 to 2025, Felix Knopp was a member of the ensemble at the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg. There, he worked with Johan Simons, Jette Steckel, Nicolas Stemann, René Pollesch, Michael Thalheimer, Jan Bosse, Marina Dawydowa and Luk Perceval, amongst others. It was here, in 2023, that he also met Kirill Serebrennikov for the production of 'Barocco' and 'Legende'. They have maintained a continuous working relationship ever since.
As well as his theatre work, he also appears regularly in films and on television, amongst others: Margarethe von Trotta’s film adaptation of Uwe Johnson’s 'Jahrestage', as well as in the cinema productions 'Über uns das All', 'Schwestern' and 'Ein Geschenk der Götter'.
