Born in Moscow in 1990, Alina Aleshchenko earned her degree in Theatre Management and Theatre Studies from the Moscow Art Theatre School in 2008. During her studies, she worked as a project manager and interpreter for various international festivals and cultural organizations in Russia. In 2013, she began a master’s program at the Centre for Ibsen Studies at the University of Oslo, while simultaneously working as an assistant and tour manager for the Norwegian dance company Jo Strømgren Kompani.
In 2015, she moved to Germany, first working as a freelance assistant director at the Theatersommer in Ludwigsburg, and later joining the artistic operations office at Theater Augsburg. In the 2017/18 season, she worked in the department of International Affairs at Schauspiel Stuttgart, where she also organised the international theatre festival The Future of Europe together with her collegue Evropi Thomopoulou.
From 2018 to 2020, she worked at the Volksbühne Berlin as executive assistant to the artistic director Klaus Dörr. Among other projects, she curated and led the international festival POSTWEST in the 2019/20 season. Between 2020 and 2022, she was based at Schauspiel Dortmund, working as artistic production manager for special events and co-curator for the Queer Festival (editions 2020 and 2021). In 2023, she was production manager and co-curator of the supporting programme for the international festival RADAR OST at Deutsches Theater Berlin, and in 2024, artistic project manager for the Fokus Ukraine — European Theatre Festival 777 TAGE ДНІВ DAYS at Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus.
She is also a member of the Berlin-based theatre and film collective CIAO NOW.
Since August 2023, Alina Aleshchenko has been the managing director and creative producer of Kirill & Friends Company and collaborates with Kirill Serebrennikov on various theatre projects.
