Ale­xan­der Ma­nots­kov, born in 1972 in St. Pe­ters­burg, Rus­sia, is a com­po­ser who now li­ves with his fa­mily in Düssel­dorf, Ger­ma­ny. Due to his outs­po­ken an­ti-war and pro-Uk­ra­inian stan­ce, he was for­ced to le­ave Rus­sia.

He has wor­ked in Rus­sia, Uk­ra­ine, Ka­zakh­stan, Nor­way, Po­land, Ger­ma­ny, the Uni­ted Sta­tes, the Net­herlands, and the Uni­ted King­dom. His com­po­siti­ons ha­ve be­en pub­li­shed by Do­nemus (the Net­herlands), whi­le his re­cor­dings ha­ve be­en re­le­ased by Fan­cy­music (Rus­sia) and LA­WO Clas­sics (Nor­way).

Ma­nots­kov is the com­po­ser of mo­re than 30 cham­ber and lar­ge-sca­le ope­ras and al­so wri­tes ins­tru­men­tal mu­sic. In ad­di­ti­on to his work as a com­po­ser, he oc­ca­si­onal­ly works as a sta­ge di­rec­tor, con­ductor, cho­ir di­rec­tor, sin­ger, and mul­ti-ins­tru­men­ta­list.
