Everything is transient—performance, body, life, even the idea of home.
Looking back on himself from his exile in Germany—as a dancer, a son, and as a human being—choreographer and performer Ivan Estegneev searches within the moment of performance for ways to hold on and let go. Together with dramaturg and writer Alexandr Andriyashkin, he transforms personal experience into a meditation on loss, memory, distance, and the fragile nature of presence.
How do you say farewell to a father from afar?
How do you come to terms with an aging body?
And what remains of an art that disappears as it is created?
Demon’s Sorrow is a deeply personal reflection on the fragility of the moment—one that, with every breath, dissolves and is born again.
